RJM is excited to announce the launch of a Continuous Surface Wave ground profiling service providing accurate and economical non intrusive determination of the ground stiffness profile; vital for accurate assessment of ground movements in response to loading or excavation. In addition the technique provides a useful tool for assessing improvements in ground stiffness due to shallow ground improvement techniques such as dynamic compaction or stone columns. You can learn more about this exciting new service by clicking on the link HERE . For background information click here to view our recent presentation on the CSW system.
Latest version of GEO5 software purchased
In order to be able to provide fully compliant Eurocode 7 designs in an efficient and economical way we have invested in the latest version of the GEO5 geotechnical software suite which we use to undertake our routine design work. More information on this integrated and powerful design software can be found at www.finesoftware.eu/geotechnical-software/.
Eurocodes are no longer optional!
Full implementation of the Eurocodes took place on April 1, 2010 when the British Standards Institution withdrew 54 British Standards for the design of buildings and civil engineering structures. These include key geotechnical standards BS 6031:1981, BS 8004, BS 8081, BS 8002, BS 8006 and BS 5930. Both the Highways Agency and Network Rail have revised their requirements accordingly. At RJM we have undertaken extensive training to ensure we are fully conversant with Eurocode design requirements and all design work from April 1st 2010 will be carried out to the new Eurocodes.

3rd Annual RJM charity bike raises over £500 for Water Aid
With a change of venue and format the 3rd annual RJM charity bike ride took place on Saturday 21st May starting and finishing in Arnside; the home of RJM! Ride HQ was based in the Arnside Womens Institute where Richard and Alison from Drift GI provided pre-ride hot drinks and excellent cakes. A total of 18 riders headed off on the 20 mile scenic tour of the beautiful countryside between Arnside and Silverdale with the route providing great views as well as passing a large number of hostelries. Riders were greeted on return to the welcome smell of BBQ's in full swing along with a barrel of Copper Dragon Brewery’s finest. The rain held off long enough for most to eat outside before people retired into the hall where entertainment was provided on the stage in the form of impromptu shows put on by all the kids. Our reporter cannot remember at what time the event concluded but it is rumoured that the Director's of RJM were up into the wee hours ensuring that no beer was wasted. We are already looking forward to the 2012 bike ride and hope that those who were unable to be with us in 2011 can join us next year.
